Karen Diane Beckner

Beckner, Karen Diane 10/22/1965 - 2/4/2023 Portage, MI Karen Diane (Wiest) Beckner of Portage, MI passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at the age of 57. She was born in Jackson, MI on October 22, 1965, the daughter of John Wiest and Karen (Kring) Wendell. She graduated from Comstock high school in 1983, following graduation she received an Associate's degree in Science from Ferris State University. While attending Ferris she met the love of her life Stephen Beckner. On September 19, 1987 the two were united in marriage at the Zion Lutheran Church of Kalamazoo. Together they started a family welcoming their first child: Andrew John (AJ) Beckner in 1991 and their second child: Stephanie Diane Beckner in 1996. Karen dedicated her life to raising her children and creating a welcoming home for her family. In her free time she volunteered for the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) of Southwest Michigan walking dogs. She specialized in taking care of the dogs that required extra attention. She loved to sing and dance around the house. She will be fondly remembered for her kindness and care for others. Karen made everyone feel like they were part of her family and gave the best "Mom" hugs to all that needed them. In accordance with the family's wishes cremation has taken place and a public time for visiting will be held on Saturday, February, 18, 2023, at Avink, McCowen & Secord, 409 South Main Street, Vicksburg, MI 49097, beginning at 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Memorials made in Karen's memory may be directed to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) of Southwest Michigan.
