June Templeton Hamstra

June Marie Templeton Hamstra Battle Creek, 56, died Friday, February 5, 2010 at Lifespan Good Samaritan Residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 4, 1954 in Battle Creek, the daughter of Sammie L. and Mattie A. (Richardson) Templeton and attended Battle Creek Central High School. She was a homemaker and loved being surrounded by her family. June enjoyed her yard work, gardening, fishing and her interior decorating and loved being with her family and friends. On August 20, 1989 June Marie Templeton was united in marriage to Roger L. Hamstra in Battle Creek. In addition to her husband Roger, June is survived by, three sons, Carlos A. Templeton, Charles L. (Lisa) Templeton, Robert L. Straham all of Battle Creek; nine grandchildren; mother, Mattie A. Richardson of Battle Creek; father, Sammie L. Templeton of Saginaw; twin sister, Joyce Dukes (Terry) Glenn of Little Rock, AR, sister Shirley Green of Battle Creek; brother, Command Sgt. Major retired, Ronnie Templeton of Atlanta, GA and numerous nieces and nephews. June was preceded in death by her infant daughter; her grandmother, Mary Richardson and her brother, Sammie Templeton. At the request of the family, friends may call after 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 10, 2010, at Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, February 11, 2010 at the funeral home, with Rev. James Codde officiating, interment at Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to Battle Creek Health System, Cancer Care Center.
