Nieuwenhuis, Judy K. Plainwell, MI Judy passed away, Sunday, August 15, 2021 at her home in Plainwell. She was born January 19, 1947 in Sturgis, the daughter of Leonard and Blanch (Geyer) Meert. For many years Judy worked in customer services at Parker Hannifin until her retirement in 2008. She was an active member of Martin Reformed Church. Judy enjoyed working to spread the good news of Jesus by serving at vacation Bible school, serving food in Benton Harbor and making blankets and prayer shawls. Judy loved watching her grandchildren play sports, reading, gardening and camping with her family and good friends. On July 24, 1965 at Twin Lakes Reformed Church she married Jon Nieuwenhuis who survives. Also surviving are her children, Jeff (Amy) Nieuwenhuis, Joel (Kerri) Nieuwenhuis and Jill (Ken) Eastman; grandchildren, Gibson (Amber) Nieuwenhuis, Brinley Nieuwenhuis, Noah (Cara) Eastman, Trevor Nieuwenhuis, Evan Nieuwenhuis, Parker Eastman, Cooper Eastman, Colin Nieuwenhuis and Landon Nieuwenhuis; siblings, Gene (Kathy) Meert, Shirley Griffin, Nancy Mulder, Duke (Kathy) Meert and Sally (Lynn) Lukins along with many loved nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; in-laws, John and Henrietta Nieuwenhuis, siblings, William Meert, Betty (LaMar) Bloss, Mary Schaeffer, Jack (Mick) Meert, Larry Mulder and Don Griffin. Friends may visit with Judy's family from 4-8 PM, Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at Martin Reformed Church and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, August 19, 2021 with Pastor Mark Heijerman officiating. Burial procession will leave the church at 1:30 P.M., for burial at Hillside Cemetery in Plainwell.
