Obituary
Judith VanFleet passed away peacefully with her children by her side on Monday after a long battle with dementia. Judy was born in Grand Rapids, MI and moved to Kalamazoo with her family in 1970. She graduated from Western Michigan University and was an art teacher with the Kalamazoo Christian Schools before becoming a real estate broker with her husband Victor VanFleet. Together they worked side by side for more than 25 years in the Kalamazoo area. In her retirement she volunteered at Second Impressions resale shop to benefit the Christian Schools. She attended Centerpointe Church for many years and loved her Lord Jesus Christ. Although dementia stole her memories it didn't take her ability to sing hymns up until her last days. Judy is preceded in death by her parents and husband Victor VanFleet. She is survived by her children Joseph Betten (Mary Franklin), Kristen Mezsets (Eriks), and George Betten (Lisa), grandchildren and great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 26 at Westwood Christian Reformed Church, 620 Northampton Rd. at 2pm. Visitation will take place one hour before the service.
