Judith M. Maier, 87, of Gull Lake, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on June 9, 2023. Judith was born May 30, 1936 in Battle Creek to Dr. Leland and Natalie (Galloup) Keagle. She graduated from Battle Creek Central High School and then went on to receive her Bachelor Degree of Science from Colby-Sawyer College.

Judy was a lifelong sailor where she met her husband, Robert. They were married on June 22, 1957. She taught adult sailing at Detroit and Gull Lake Yacht Clubs. She won multiple Detroit Women's Flying Scot Sailing championships.

Judy was actively involved in her son's sports, activities and education. She was even a Cub Scout Den Mother. She was a long term volunteer at Augusta Public Library, Kellogg Biological Station, Kellogg Bird Sanctuary and Kellogg Forest. She truly was a lover of all things outdoors.

Judy is survived by her three sons, Jeffrey (Mary Ann) Maier, James Maier Sr. and Andrew Maier; five grandchildren, Lindsay (Matt Garver), James II, Katherine, Mitchell and Rene Maier and a brother, John (Kathy) Keagle. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert in 2008, her parents and a sister, Sophie Bachman.

Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 28, 2023. A celebration of Judy's life will be held at her home on Gull Lake, 960 E. Gull Lake Dr., Augusta, MI 49012 on Saturday, August 5, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Kellogg Bird Sanctuary, Attn: Sarah Carroll, 3700 E.
