Judith C. Welker

Judith C. Welker, age 83 of Kalamazoo, died on November 23, 2023. She was born on March 7, 1940, in Grand Rapids, the daughter of Gerald and Genevieve (Swanson) Peaslee. She was a 1958 graduate of Creston High School and received her bachelor's degree in education from Western Michigan University. On July 28, 1962, she married Blair Welker. Judith worked for Havenaar Greenhouse for many years and Sears & Roebucks. She volunteered with Second Impressions, Kalamazoo Christian Schools, the Red Cross, and was a bell ringer with the Salvation Army. Blair and Judith were members of Parchment Christian Reformed Church and later Second Christian Reformed Church. They enjoyed camping and traveling. Her family includes her children: Michelle (Steven) Scott, Angie (Kelly Smith) Welker, and Shawn Welker and her grandchildren: Alex, Veronica, Nicole, Anderson, and Lilli. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 27th, 2023, at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel 3926 S. 9th Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49009. A private burial will be held at West Cooper Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to United Way for Mental Health Services.
