Judith Ann Peterson

We are deeply saddened to announce that our sister Judith Ann Peterson (nee: Standiford) passed away on April 29, 2024 in Racine, Wi. Judi was born on Dec. 30, 1957 in Racine, WI, and graduated from Washington Park High School in 1976.

She married Christopher Peterson in 1988 and proudly worked in the offices of the Racine Police Department for nearly 20 years. Judi was one of a kind, at once both stubborn and tenacious, and warm-hearted and sensitive. She was nostalgic for the good-old days, with her child-like excitement for Christmas, hosting the family, decorating the house, and lighting up 1909 Glen St. like Clark Griswold. She was always generous and sweet with her many nieces and nephews, cheering them on in sports, lavishing each with special attention, and never forgetting birthdays. She loved the days of hitting the road on the Harley with her husband and yearned to see new places. Classic 70’s R&B music was her jam and she didn’t hesitate to get up and dance. She was an instigator and participant in having a good time. Despite the challenging mental, physical, and emotional health issues that plagued her throughout life, she kept up the fight, not letting things bring her down. Too soon, she lost the fight. Those who know and love Judi have experienced her ability to shower you with love. She leaves us with the best kind of memories.

Judi is survived by her siblings: Charles Standiford, Susan Lumia, Sheila and Charles Wittkowski, Janet Stuht, Marcia Standiford and Kenneth Ferencek, ex-husband and longtime friend, Christopher Peterson, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces/nephews, and great-great nieces/nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Margaret and Clayton Standiford.

Friends are invited to gather on Saturday May 4, 2024 from 12:00-3:00 p.m. to celebrate her life at Reefpoint Brew House, 2 Christopher Columbus Causeway in Racine, WI.
