Obituary
Gregg, Juanita May Juanita May Gregg, age 91, of Kalamazoo, had recently developed heart failure and peacefully passed away surrounded by her family July 27, 2022. She was born at Borgess Hospital on February 15, 1931 in Kalamazoo, MI to the late Leonard Ernest and Emma Arlene (Eastman) Goble. Juanita graduated from Galesburg High School in 1949 and Kalamazoo Valley Community College with an Associate's Degree in Applied Science, with honors, May 8, 1978. She retired from the Episcopal Diocese of Western Michigan following a lifetime of employment as an accountant for area employers. She loved to travel and explored most of the U.S. and Canada, with her husband, in their camper. She especially enjoyed their retirement trip to Alaska, family fishing trips to Chipman Lake in Ontario and their 25th Anniversary trip to Hawaii. Juanita and Harry established a winter home in Palmetto, FL and developed many close friends there. She served 6 years on the board of directors for the Palmetto Mobile Home Club, primarily as treasurer. Juanita loved sharing fun times with family and friends at their home on Barton Lake in Vicksburg, MI. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life, and she was so proud of them. When her children were young, Juanita was an active member of Waylee Elementary's Mothers Club and taught sewing and cooking for 4-H. She enjoyed listening to music, reading, sewing, and stitching handmade Christmas Tree skirts for family members. She was a very good cook and was a finalist in the Kalamazoo Gazette Cooking Contest with her famous No-Bake Caramel Cookies. She attended Zion Lutheran Church. Juanita was quick witted and always enjoyed laughing and talking. When asked to share the secret to their long marriage, she replied "He makes me laugh everyday!" She is survived her loving husband of 72 years, Harry Lewis Gregg of Kalamazoo, MI; daughters, Judy Smith, Deborah (George) Goodsell, Patricia (James) Madison, and Dyrinda Voss; granddaughter-in-law, Nancy Smith; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Rene) Smith, Patrick (Lisa) Smith, Sarah (Peter) Ellis, David (Laurel Yoder) Goodsell, Joshua (Haley Newburry) Madison, Sergey (Taylor Fowler) Madison, Michael (Emily) Voss, Michelle Voss, and Brianna Dompke; great-grandchildren, Katlin, Colton, Bryana, Hadlee, Hudson, Blake, Cora, Dean, River, Vera, Grace, Kennedy, Aiden, and Grayson; great-great-granddaughter, Piper; "sister" Mae Cutler; brother-in-law Roger Gregg; sister-in-law Joyce Adkins; and several nieces, nephews and dear friends. Juanita was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Richard Voss; grandson, Bryan Smith; and several brothers and sisters. A celebration of Juanita's life will take place on Saturday, August 27 at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 3926 S. 9th St, Kalamazoo, MI 49009. A prayer service will be held at 2:00pm, with Pastor Larry Brelje, followed by visitation from 2:30-5:00 pm. The family suggests casual attire.
