Joyce Rohrer

ROHRER, MRS. JOYCE Rockford Mrs. Joyce Rohrer, age 71, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 23, 2012. She was a graduate of Hurley Nursing School in Pontiac and received her B.A. degree from Grand Rapids Baptist College. Joyce worked as a L.P.N. in hospitals and physician's offices. She worked at Rest Haven Home the last 22 years until Parkinson's disease caused her to retire. Often you would find Joyce accompanying her husband, Pastor Tom Rohrer, on pastoral calls to members of the church, shut-ins, and seekers of the Christian faith. She loved to sing in the choir, play the piano, work in the nursery, and teach 6-8-year-olds, and serve with Tom in many ways at church and entertaining in her home. Joyce is survived by her husband, Pastor Thomas Rohrer; children, Michelle and Chris Weeks of Kent City, and Sherilyn and Joel Shaffer of Grand Rapids; eight grandchildren; siblings, Mrs. Mary Lou Eldredge, Larry Botruff, and Dan and Lexi Botruff; and nieces and nephews. There will be a Service of Thanksgiving to God for the wonderful life Joyce lived on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Northland Baptist Church, 4162 Hunsberger Ave. NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49525. The officiating pastors are son-in-law, Pastor Chris Weeks, Pastor Ken Floyd, and Pastor John Nixon. Interment is at Rosedale Memorial Park. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Urban Transformation Ministry. UTM is an inner city ministry to at-risk youth. The mission director is Joel Shaffer.
