Joyce "Joey" Kruithoff

Kruithoff, Joyce "Joey" Kalamazoo, Michigan Joyce L. "Joey" Kruithoff, age 80 of Kalamazoo, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on January 30, 2023. She was born on July 29, 1942, the daughter of Jesse and Alberta (Sage) Coffinger. She attended Kalamazoo Central High School and graduated in 1960. After high school she moved to Chicago where she attended finishing school. Afterwards she traveled back to Kalamazoo and started her family. In the early 1970's she learned to play golf, she was a natural from the start. Additionally, she was active in the Borgess Follies, bowled, and competitively played tennis. Ultimately, it was the great game of golf that became her strongest passion. One in which led her to meet the love of her life all while creating lifelong friendships. Joey and Bruce were married on March 14, 1992. During their marriage they continued to play golf, took up pickleball and skied. They were active at a variety of clubs wherever they lived. Most recently was Gull Lake Country Club, where Joey won a handful of events including many club championships. She also won several other prestigious tournaments throughout the State of Michigan. She is survived by Bruce Kruithoff, her children Tad (Renee) Gabriel and Amy Roberts, her step-sons, Cary (Ruth) Kruithoff and Sean (Dia) Kruithoff, her grandchildren: Taylor Gabriel, Maxwell Gabriel, Henry Gabriel, Connor Gabriel, Kaylee (Taylor) Birmann, Emily Quertermus, Anna (Jon) Kaczmarski, Joey Quertermus, Olivia Roberts, Cory (Todd) Weber and Hendrix Kruithoff. Great-Grandchildren, Evan Weber and Aaron Weber. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alberta and Jesse Coffinger, her son Kyle Gabriel and grandson Andrew Roberts. A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 6, 2023, at 11:00 AM, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Burial & Cremation Services, 3926 S. 9th Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49009, where a time to visit with her family will be held from 12:00 PM-2:00 PM, following the memorial service.
