Joyce Geiger

Joyce I. Geiger, age 81 of Kalamazoo, passed away peacefully to be with her Savior on January 8, 2023, at Rose Arbor Hospice Home. She was born on September 22, 1941, in Kalamazoo, the daughter of William & Louise (Morris) Johnson. Joyce was a graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School. She met her husband Duane, after he relocated to Michigan following his discharge from the Air Force. They were married on July 27, 1963, and they shared 56 years together, until his death in 2020. For over 30 years, she was a cake decorator at Boonzaaijer Bakery. Joyce was a member of Immanuel Fellowship Church. She had a servant heart and was often generous with her time and efforts for others. Joyce was a hard worker and enjoyed spending time caring for her family and her home. She had a great sense of humor and wit, even with her challenges, which brought lots of laughter. Her family includes her children: Meloni (Gary) Blok, Jeff (Terry) Geiger, Molly (Dan) Alphenaar, and Marcy (James) Bray; her grandchildren: Christopher (Casey) Blok, Michael (Rebecca) Blok, Theresa Blok, Matthew (Victoria) Blok (EM7), Sarah Blok (Brandon Bennett), Natalie (Paul) Newendyke, Esq., Alexander (Bonnie) Fernandez, Leah Fernandez, and Lucy, Norah, and Bo Bray; her great-grandchildren: Tanwen and Brigid Blok, Jameson Blok, and Henry Fernandez; her brothers and sisters: Barbara Solleveld, Richard Johnson, Sam & Sheila Johnson, Louise Ambs, Bill & Sheila Johnson, Vicki & William SIlva, and Jeri Hudson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane Geiger, her son-in-law, Carlos Fernandez, her sister, Maxine Webb, and several extended family members. Friends may visit with her family on Wednesday, January 11, 2022, from 3:00-7:00 PM, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Burial & Cremation Services, 3926 S. 9th Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49009, where a memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 12th, at 11:30 AM.
