PELLETIER - Joyce Elaine (Bryers) Pelletier, aged 75, of Wyoming, passed away on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer. Joyce was born on August 24, 1934 in McMillan, MI. She later graduated from Newberry High School in 1952 and Northern Michigan University in June of 1958. On July 4, 1958, she married Nelson Pelletier in Escanaba, MI. She was a teacher in Cheboygan, MI in 1958 and then in Rudyard, MI in 1961. She devoted the rest of her life to being a homemaker, raising two sons, and following her husband to various parts of the country due to his work. Joyce was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She was an expert at moving, having had 36 different addresses in over 51 years. She loved to travel and enjoyed her family. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Salmaine Bryers; brothers, Maynard and Wayne; and sister, Donna. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Nelson; sons, Tim (Kay) Pelletier of Grand Rapids and Tom Pelletier of Madison Hts.; grandchildren, Alethea Pelletier of Grand Rapids, Joel and Madison Pelletier of Madison Hts.; great-grandson, Jeffery Joel Pelletier; brothers, Howard Bryers and Marvin Bryers; sisters, Phyllis DeMay, Sharon Anderson, Barbara Malarney, and Lois Bryers. Funeral services for Joyce will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 1213-52nd Street SE, Kentwood with Rev. Godfrey Onyekwere presiding. Interment Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may meet the family at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4031 Clyde Park SW, Wyoming on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Magdalen Church, Faith Hospice-Trillium Woods, or American Cancer Society .
