Spinner Sr., Joseph 3/6/1933 - 2/17/2023 Battle Creek Joseph Marion Spinner Sr., 89, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2023 at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo. He was born on March 6, 1933, the son of Joseph Warren Spinner and Mary (Broux) Spinner. Joe graduated from Pana High School with the Class of 1951. He attended Joliet Junior College and played football. Joe served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged after 2 years of service. He was one of the original Computer Programmers for the Hart-Dole-Inouye Federal Center in Battle Creek. Joe enjoyed playing baseball in high school and was an avid golfer. Joe and Dorothy loved to collect antiques, they would travel all around to find treasures to add to their collection. For 20 years, they traveled to Tucson, AZ to spend the winters. Joe enjoyed watching sports, especially the St. Louis Cardinals, St. Louis Blues and the University of Illinois Fighting Illini. He was an avid reader and loved doing crossword puzzles. Joe is survived by his sons, Joseph (Toby) Spinner Jr., Gregory (Brian Rozniarek) Spinner, Douglas Spinner, Thomas (Becky) Spinner; grandchildren, Ashley, Josette, Autumn, Zachary; great grandson, William Oisten; great granddaughter, Nevaeh Collins; brother, Larry (Sue) Spinner and sister, Sharon Goode. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Dorothy Spinner; son, Anthony Spinner; daughter, Mary Spinner; granddaughter, Heather Ponds and sister, Paula Spinner. A memorial service will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, on Saturday, March 4, 2023, 3:00 pm with Father David Pinto officiating. Interment will take place in the Fort Custer National Cemetery at a later date. Live stream capabilities will be available for those not able to be in attendance.
