Joseph Edward Scott, Sr.

Joseph Edward Scott, Sr., age 75, of Parchment, MI. died peacefully at his home on February 15, 2024.

Joe was born on October 1, 1948, in Norway, MI. His parents Marie Lousie (McGill) and George Randall Scott moved from the UP of Michigan to Hickory Corners, MI, with Joe in 1952. He grew up helping his parents with their local restaurant and graduated from Gull Lake High School in 1966. From there, Joe began as a Farm Hand with UpJohn Farms where he worked the fields and assisted with the UpJohn Equine program. Joe left UpJohn to serve in the US Army in 1968. He was stationed in Turkey as a Sergeant with NATO Forces. He received many medals for his sharpshooting. Joe was honorably discharged in 1970. Joe took an active part in local rodeos winning many barrel racing awards. On his farm in Delton MI, The Lazy Mare, Joe raised Appaloosa horses, homing pigeons, rabbits and fancy chickens. He loved to hunt and play cards.

Joe was proceeded in death by his parents, his sisters Marie and Betty Jo, and his brother David. He leaves behind his brother Bill (Jan), and his children; Randy, Jamie (Sarah), Kimberly, Joseph, John (Amber), Billy Jo (Keith), Nichole (Lewis), Courtney (Steven) and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

There will be a private family memorial and grave side service at Fort Custer in Augusta, MI., where he will be laid to rest.
