John Delno Simcox, LCDR, USN (Ret) passed away quietly in his sleep on August 3, 2025. He was born and raised in Kalamazoo, MI, son of the late Gladys Omen Simcox and the late Galen Simcox. He attended State High School in Kalamazoo, graduating as part of the Class of 1956.
John graduated from the University of Michigan in June 1960 and was commissioned as an Ensign in the Navy. He married Beatrice Pingel in Sasebo, Japan on July 3rd, 1961.
John retired from the Navy in 1980 and the family moved to Fairfax, VA where he lived for the next 45 years. In retirement, he continued pursuing his lifelong passions, traveling the world with Bea, collecting stamps, and being a loyal supporter of University of Michigan football.
John was predeceased by his wife Bea and his daughter Schelle Simcox. He leaves his sister Joan Simcox Collinsworth, Phoenix, AZ, two adult children, Stephanie, Fairfax VA, and Scott (Lori), Los Gatos, CA and his three grandchildren, Abby, Melbourne, FL, Sophie, Durham, NC, and Lukas, Fairfax, VA.
