Murphy, John "Jack" N. 7/13/1946 - 9/23/2020 Kalamazoo Jack passed away at his home, Wednesday, September 23, 2020. Jack was born July 13, 1946 in Chicago, son of the late Harry and Marion Murphy and had lived the past 49 years in Kalamazoo. Jack honorably served his country as a member of the US Navy. He was happiest camping at any possible moment, fishing with best friends in Canada, woodworking, and collecting antique trains. His Shetland heritage gave him great pride. Jack was a man of great character and charm who adored spending time with friends, new and old. Surviving is his wife of 47 years, Ruth; 2 daughters, Kimberly (James) Kondor and Kelly (Brian) Murphy-Lyman; grandchildren, Courtney and Melanie Kondor and Jackson and Lucas Lyman; a sister, Marilee (Paul) Lesley; cousins, Nicki (Bob) Grasso, Bobette Dorre, Linda Hardie, Jim Hardie and a special lifelong friend, Alan Fergin. He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents, Agnes and Robert Hardie, and an aunt, Joann Sikkenga and uncle, Robert Hardie. The family will meet friends on Monday, September 28 from 1 - 3 PM at the Bangor Chapel, D. L. Miller Funeral Home, www.dlmillerfuneralhome.com. Graveside services with military honors will follow in Arlington Hill Cemetery, Bangor. Face masks and social distancing will be required by all attending. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either Wings of Hope Hospice or the Otsego Moose Lodge #345.
