John Howard Brink, age 89, of Grand Rapids, formerly of East Saugatuck, died Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at Breton Manor in Grand Rapids. John was a lifelong member of East Saugatuck Christian Reformed Church where he served on council and was active in many areas of the church. He owned and operated John Brink Trucking for many years and also farmed in the East Saugatuck area. John and Edith moved to Breton Terrace from East Saugatuck five years ago. His hobbies included gardening, reading, travel and golf. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Edith; children, Beth and Chris Cok of Grand Rapids, Wes Brink; grandchildren, Kendra and Chelsea Cok of Grand Rapids, Chris, Phil and Erin Stitt, all of Grand Haven; three great grandchildren; sisters, Mrs. Larry (Ruth) Canaan, Myra and Rev. John Van Stempvoort, Kathryn and Rev. Peter Van Drunen; brother-in-law, Tom and Jan Jasperse; many nieces and nephews. Funeral and committal services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, November 22 at East Saugatuck Christian Reformed Church, A3815 56th St. Holland with Rev. Edwin Visscher officiating. Burial will be in Georgetown Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be given to Back to God Hour or East Saugatuck CRC.
