Johanna "Jolo" Barclay

Barclay, Johanna "Jolo" 9/15/1940 - 1/29/2023 Largo 82, of Largo, Florida, died on January 29, 2023, from the effects of Alzheimer's disease. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, David E. Barclay, and many relatives in South Africa. She was a resident of Kalamazoo for 42 years while her husband taught at Kalamazoo College. Born in Cape Town, South Africa, on September 15, 1940, she studied at the University of Stellenbosch. She was a librarian with a specialization in music librarianship, and work experience in South Africa, Germany, and the US. Blessed with a wry and understated sense of humor, she had an inexhaustible love of travel, music, and literature, especially in her native Afrikaans. A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at 10:00a.m.EDT at Hubbell Funeral Home, 499 Indian Rocks Road, N., Belleair Bluffs, FL 33770.
