Obituary
Jerry Lee Chance passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2026, 9:05 am at Centrica Rose Arbor after being diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer while a patient at Bronson Hospital on Nov. 27, 2025. The cancer was very progressive and Jerry opted not to receive treatment. Hospice was contacted and the transition process started immediately. Jerry faced this illness with courage and strength. Jerry was born on Feb. 23, 1973 to James and Jacqueline Chance and lived with his parents until they both passed away; James in 2016 and Jacqueline also passing away 10 months later, in 2017. Jerry graduated from Mattawan High School with the Class of 1993. Jerry worked various jobs as a Custodian and Unarmed/Armed Security over the years. His last and best job was working Armed Security for EPG Security and was assigned to work at Centrica Rose Arbor over the last year, Jerry grew to love his job and the staff at Rose Arbor. He considered the staff at Rose Arbor as family and loved them very much. The staff at Rose Arbor also appreciated Jerry for his work and loved Jerry in return. Jerry also considered members of the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Department as family as his father retired from the department and he was introduced to many staff and officers through the years.
Jerry worked very hard all of his life and was the happiest working at Centrica Rose Arbor as he found a sense of purpose and pride as he was appreciated and loved by staff for making them feel safe while working his shift. Since High School Jerry has always proven to be loyal, sincere, and loving to people which shows in his joy of going to his class reunions and appreciating his classmates to this day. Jerry never changed. Jerry is being cremated, with a celebration of life service taking place on Thursday, March 26th at 11 am at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 3926 S. 9th St., Kalamazoo, MI 49007, with an hour of visitation prior to the service. A luncheon will be held following services. He will be interred privately with his parents. Jerry believed in the Lord and he said that he was looking forward to being with his parents in Heaven.
