Jeanne Ewing

Passed away Saturday morning, March 5, 2011. Jeanne was born December 22, 1919 in Otsego, MI the daughter of Edwin, Sr. and Edna (Young) Otto and had been a lifelong resident in the Kalamazoo area. Prior to her retirement she was employed for 39 years with the Shakespeare Company. On July 5, 1941 she was united in marriage to A. Wilson Ewing who preceded her in death on January 3, 2002. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Edwin Otto, Jr. and John Otto, Sr. Jeanne was a member of the Texas Corners Bible Church and the Elks BPOE # 50. She enjoyed playing golf, bowling, and tennis and was an avid WMU sports enthusiast, attending many men's and women's basketball and volleyball games. She also enjoyed spending time attending her grandchildren and great grandchildren's various activities. She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie (Norm) Langeland; grandchildren, Greg Langeland, Lisa Langeland (Rob) Baas, Judi Langeland; four great grandchildren, Tyler and Haley Langeland, Shelby and Dylan Baas; two sisters, Bonnie (Hal) Menzie, Shirley Cochrane; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 11:00 Thursday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street with Pastor Simon Tuin of Heritage Christian Reformed Church officiating. Interment will be in Ft. Custer National Cemetery at 2:00. Friends may meet the family Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Westside Chapel. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Southwest Michigan.
