Jean Westra

Formerly of Kalamazoo, MI Hazel Jean Westra passed away Monday, August 26, 2019 in Green Acres Assisted Living, Cedar Springs, MI. She was born on June 23, 1929 in Grand Rapids, MI the eldest child of Lester and Hazel (Faust) Crandle. On June 28, 1947, Jean married Kenneth E. Westra who preceded her in death on October 5, 1991. She was also preceded in death by her parents and youngest brother, John Crandle. Jean is survived by four children, David B. Westra of Grand Rapids, MI, Susan K. Westra of Grand Rapids, MI, Keith (Maridza) Westra of Orocovis, Puerto Rico and Nancy Meeuwse of Portage, MI; five grandchildren, Sarita, Daniel, Iris, Edward and Miles; several great-grandchildren; four siblings, Matt (Barbara) Crandle, Ransom (Beverly) Crandle, Jim Crandle and Marilyn Glueck; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 3rd from 10 to 11 a.m. at Berean Baptist Church, 7813 S. 12th Street, Portage MI 49024, where services will begin at 11 a.m. Pastor Bill Abernathy will officiate. Private graveside services will be held in Portage Central Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Berean Baptist Church Mission Fund.
