Mrs. Jean Lautenbach, age 82, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, January 23, 2008. Growing up on the north side of Grand Rapids, Jean met George at Briggs Park where they played softball. In 1943 they eloped to Angola, Indiana and were married. She became a stay-at-home mom and raised her family. Jean was a very fashion-conscious lady who liked colorful clothes. She was honored when her granddaughters would borrow her clothes. As a family they would attend the drive-in church near Cannonsburg ski area. Jean was raised in a Christ-centered home and made sure her children attended Sunday school and church. She was a lady of private devotions. Her husband, George collected vintage Ford cars, and she would really enjoy going to the car shows, making many friends there. Jean is survived by her children, George L. and Diane Lautenbach, Terry and Chris Blanding, and Al Preisner; grandchildren, Tim Preisner and special friend, Cheryl, Todd and June Preisner, Traci and Tom West, Toni Preisner, Sherry and Chris Clements, Curtis and Teresa Lautenbach, Aaron Lautenbach and special friend, Jessica, and Eric and Christa Blanding; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, George on April 15, 2001, and daughter, Linda Preisner on July 7, 2006. The Service of Praise and Thanksgiving to God for the gift of eternal life for Mrs. Lautenbach will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Marvin Williams officiating. Interment will be in Rockford Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Salvation Army Ladies Auxiliary. Relatives and friends may meet with Mrs. Lautenbach's family from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The Pederson Funeral Home, Rockford www.pedersonfuneralhome.com
