DeGraff, Jay William 12/9/1959 - 1/5/2023 Hudson, Fl Our family is saddened to announce the passing of Jay W. DeGraff on January 05, 2023. Jay, a resident of Hudson, Florida was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on December 09, 1959, the son of the late William and Vicki (Comstock) DeGraff. Jay graduated from Parchment High School class of 1978 and began his 35-year career as an industrial worker, carpenter, self-employed handyman, building subcontractor, Certified Pool/Spa Operator and building maintenance technician. Most recently he was employed at Heritage Pines Community Association in Hudson, Fl. as a Maintenance Technician where he set up the clubhouse for the daily activities and special events. He made many friends among co-workers and residents while working there and will be greatly missed. Jay loved to watch the boats come and go at Hudson Beach while enjoying a cold beverage and was recently rebuilding his 1988 Bayliner boat. He enjoyed taking several cruises with friends, fishing, running karaoke events and personally singing along to Frank Sinatra songs. He had a passion for fixing up anything that he knew still had life left in it, he rebuilt a vintage Hummer Harley Davidson motorcycle he purchased in milk crates and won a 2nd place award at a Gilmore Car Museum show. He was a past member of Sons of the American Legion Squad 484 Hickory Corners, MI., the Men's Auxiliary to the VFW Post 1527 Portage, MI. and was recognized for his volunteer work at VFW Post 6252 Comstock, MI. He was much loved and will be missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents and leaves to cherish his memory his siblings, Corajean (Robert) Hilton, Cathy DeGraff (Robert Fredericks), Jeff (Lisa) DeGraff as well as nieces Jaclyn White, Christina Smith, nephews Jesse Hilton, Lance Pio, his very dear friends Randy and Lisa Slack along with his faithful lap cat Blackie. Jay was a very quiet and private person he gave the gift of life through tissue donation. Cremation has taken place with services provided by Thomas B. Dobies Funeral Homes, Hudson, Fl. a private family memorial will be held later.
