Janis V. Arndts Albion Janis V. Arndts, 73, of Albion, passed away at her home on September 6, 2008, after a lengthy illness. Born in Albion, MI, on August 26, 1935, to Howard and Murtice (Philp) Dean, she was a lifetime resident of Sheridan Township, graduated from Albion High School in 1954 and attended Jackson Community College. She married Chris Arndts in August, 1959. After she was married, she devoted herself to making a home and raising her three sons. She had great affection for Sheridan Township and enjoyed an active and lengthy service as the Clerk, Deputy Clerk and member of the Planning Commission, retiring late in 2007. She used her formidable negotiating skills in 1991 to help enact Public Act 425, an agreement with the City of Albion to ensure no annexation for Sheridan Township. In 1991 she also helped begin negotiations between Albion and Sheridan Township pertaining to shared water systems. When I-94 was resurfaced she was part of the foresight to fight for pipes under the freeway to maximize sewer usage in the future. She followed politics closely, and in the 1980's when she was member of Calhoun County Republicans rode on a campaign bus with then Presidential candidate Ronald Reagan. Surviving are her sons, Thomas (Kimberly) Arndts of Albion, John (Kristi) Arndts of Grand Rapids, and Andrew (Jennifer) Arndts of Albion; her 6 grandchildren, James, Jason, Nathaniel, Sarah, Bradley, Abigail; and 2 nephews and 1 niece.
