Schlotzhauer, Janice Lynn (Hutchins), age 79 went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 23, 2017. Jan was born on October 29, 1937 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of the late Gerald and Florence (Allen) Hutchins. Her brothers, Robert and Jerry Hutchins, also preceded her in death. On June 27, 1970 Jan married Robert Schlotzhauer, who survives. She is also survived by her daughter, Sandra (Branimir) Uzunov; granddaughter, Eliana “Nicole” Uzunov; sister, Barbara (Bruce) Ladewski and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Jan attended Hicks School as her father did, then Heath Country School, and graduated from Bangor High School in 1955. In 1959, she completed her Bachelors in Elementary Education at Western Michigan University and went on to earn her Masters in 1988. Jan was a gifted and dedicated teacher for over forty years, having taught in Bangor, Lansing, and Buchanan, Michigan, as well as in Knox, Indiana. She will be lovingly remembered as a loyal, caring, and hard-working person who enjoyed spending time with her family. A private family service has been held. Interment is at Rosedale Memorial Park.
