Westcott, James W. "Jim" 5/4/1926 - 9/12/2022 Hickory Corners, Michigan James W. "Jim" Westcott, age 96, of Hickory Corners passed away peacefully on Monday evening, September 12, 2022. He was born in Battle Creek on May 4, 1926, the son of Carl P. and Bessie M. (Whiting) Westcott and graduated from Battle Creek Central High School with the Class of 1944. Jim faithfully served his country as a Fireman First Class in the United States Navy during WWII on the USS LSM 447. He retired in 1991 after more than 45 years as an offset pressman at Eling Brothers Printers and Barnes Printers, both in Kalamazoo. Jim enjoyed fishing on Gull Lake and many area streams, and salmon fishing in St. Joseph and South Haven. Jim married the "Love of His Life", Bonnie J. Hurshley in Hickory Corners on February 17, 1951; she sadly preceded him in death on November 14, 2009. He is survived by his daughter, Joyce L. (Tom) Mosier of Parchment; his son, Warren L. "Bud" (Judy) Westcott of Cheboygan, Michigan; four grandchildren, Mindy, John, Wayne, and Bradley; and three great-grandchildren. Jim was also preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary; and a brother, Dick. Inurnment with full military honors will be held 12:00 noon, Monday, September 26th at the Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI.
