James Powell

James H Powell age 74 of Kalamazoo, MI Jim left this life surrounded by the love of his wife and family. He was born Feb 16,1945 in Conway, S Carolina to Martin and Alene Powell. He proudly served his country in the United States Army for 12 years and was a Vietnam Veteran. He worked for the United States Postal Service for 28 years retiring Oct 1,2005 He loved to wood work and it shows throughout his home. He is survived by his wife Cindy, and six children. Sons Michael, Mark and Chad (Hiliary) Powell, Daughters Sheila (JD) Kimbrell, Shelly Holdeman Pagel and Lesa (Chris) Brown. Honorary Son Ron Porter. Fifteen Grandchildren and Five Great Grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings Ralph, Charles (Chuckie), Betty Leman, Paulah Nordahl and Peggy Boyd (Randy Stenger). Good friend Richard (Bif) Shellenberger and favorite nephew Nick Barrett Burial will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery at a later date. In Lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations to the American Cancer Society, Michael J Fox Foundation, or The American Heart Association Whitley Memorial Funeral Home, Inc.
