Life Story / Obituary

James Alan Ropiak, "Jimmer", age 62, concluded a live well lived on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at Mayo Clinic Hospital, La Crosse, WI surrounded by family. He was born in Racine, WI, September 15, 1961, the youngest of 5 children of Joseph and Virginia (Huber) Ropiak.

Jim had been employed as a CNC machinist for a number of years, which was more successful than his moonlighting air guitar career, before moving to Tomah a year ago to be close to his daughter and grandchildren. Jim’s loyalty is evident by his life-long friendships and his commitment to television program reruns made before the eighties. Jack Daniels and Old Style beer you could always find in his presence while rooting for the Packers, Brewers, Bucks and focusing on NASCAR races. Jim also enjoyed gambling with his amazing luck which unfortunately landed him to be in the 1% that led to his passing. Even in death, he still wanted to be number one and finally found something meaner and more stubborn than he was! He will be remembered for his kind heart, free-spirit, and rebellious soul. Above all, he treasured time spent with his daughter and son-in-law and his grandchildren. Although he will be deeply missed, may you find comfort in knowing he is causing chaos with his life-long friends that have preceded him.

Surviving are his daughter, Tiffany (Jonathan) Banaszkiewicz; grandchildren, Braelyn Ebert, Karson Asbrand, Aria Banaszkiewicz, Tyler Smith, Alexis Smith; his great granddaughter, Eileithyia Keyser; siblings, Thomas Ropiak, Bob (Susie) Ropiak, Kathy Eckert, Beth (Kevin) Parco; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister-in-law, Sue Ropiak and brother-in-law, Don Eckert.

Relatives and friends are invited to meet at the funeral home Thursday, May 9, 2024, 5- 7 pm. A service will follow at 7 pm

Following the service an informal reception for those that wish to join will be held at the Rock Inn.

In lieu of flowers memorials to the family have been suggested.
