Brown, James Kalamazoo James Brown passed away early Thursday, December 15, 2022 peacefully in his home in Kalamazoo, Michigan James was born May 15,1944 in McGee, Arkansas to Shara Hall Brown and William Brown. James accepted the Lord Jesus as his personal Savior in his youth and joined St. Paul's Baptist Church in Benton Harbor, under the leadership of Pastor Albert Brown. James was orphaned as a teenager so he moved from Benton Harbor, MI to Chicago, IL with family where he lived his adult life and where he became the father of 5 beautiful children. James worked at General Motors as a warehouseman in Illinois for over 20 years. A job he loved to do dealing with the numbers and parts which he truly enjoyed doing. He sadly had to retire due to health issues in 2001. He leaves to cherish his precious memories his wife of 26 years Gloria (Jean) Brown; of Kalamazoo, Michigan, five children, Byron Brown of Texas, Adrian (Travis) Sandidge of Rockwall, Texas, Latonia Boateng, Arlington Texas, Yolonda MBA, of Texas, Tehrifah Brown, of Alsip, Illinois, two step-children, Eursla Moore-Doyle and Cameron (Bettie) of Kalamazoo, Michigan. His only surviving sibling is Effie (Jack) Hall of Grand Ledge, Michigan; Eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Sahara Hall Brown and William Brown, his siblings, Herbert, Odessa, Barbra, Henry, Annie Mae, Dewitt and Bernice (Doll). Friends may meet the family from 12:00-1:00pm Saturday, January 14, 2023 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, 3926 South 9th Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49009 where a memorial service will follow at 1:00pm. A light reception will follow the service at the funeral home. The Family wishes to acknowledge their sincere thanks for the many phone calls, and condolences that were received.
