Irene Izenbaard

Irene Joan Izenbaard, age 94, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on November 10, 2020. Irene was born July 5, 1926, in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Stephen and Helen (Van Den Berg) VanderKlok. She has been a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident and charter member of Prairie Edge Christian Reformed Church, where she was a longtime Sunday School teacher and organist. On October 4, 1946, Irene was united in marriage to John Izenbaard, who preceded her in death on May 15, 2013. She was also preceded by her parents and brothers: Richard and Stan VanderKlok. Surviving are her three children, Cherie (Bob) Heerlyn of Portage, Tom (Kathy) Izenbaard of Scotts, and John (Sue) Izenbaard of Vicksburg; nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; siblings Carol Morgan and Bob VanderKlok; several in-laws, nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 17th at Prairie Edge Christian Reformed Church (9316 Oakland Dr.) with Pastor Bill Fernhout officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church. Due to Covid-19 regulations, masks and social distancing will be required at all services, which will be limited in capacity. Interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park South. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Irene's memory may be directed to World Renew, Kalamazoo Christian School Association, or Prairie Edge Christian Reformed Church.
