Homer "Scrap" III, passed away unexpectedly October 27, 2021 in Providence Hospital, Novi, MI. He was born in Parkersburg, WV on January 26, 1937 to Dorothy and Homer Cox Jr. Scrap graduated from West Virginia University and having taken ROTC, he entered the United States Army in 1961 and served in Texas, Italy and Vietnam. He left the service as a captain after Vietnam. He then began a career in Battle Creek working for General Foods Cereal Plant where he started as a foreman and ended his career as General Manager of the Carton and Container Division. He was involved in the conception of the Western Michigan University Printing School and gave his time and expertise to WMU for many years. He was a mentor to many. He was married for 60 years to Cynthia "Cindy" Yendes. They enjoyed a meaningful, eventful life as they travelled the world and loved experiences with their family. They raised two daughters: Kelly and Tiffany. Scrap's parents, sister Cinda, and daughter Kelly Kline preceded him in death. Surviving are his wife, Cindy and daughter, Tiffany (Michael)Chiado, grandchildren: Kara (Adam) Plambeck, Kevin (Stephanie) Kline, Madeline and Sophia Chiado and great grandchildren: Maddox and Tenley Plambeck. Scrap had an ability to enjoy life to the fullest. He had season tickets for over 50 yrs. to U of M football games, and he loved to see the world and meet people. He loved living in Fort Lauderdale, Florida for seven months of the year where he swam every day and enjoyed a cruise every winter. His parting words were "I've had a wonderful life with no regrets." A Celebration of Life will be held May 20,2022 at Schuler's Restaurant in Marshall MI, at 3:30pm following internment of his ashes at Ft Custer Military Cemetery as arranged by O'Brien & Sullivan Funeral Home in Novi, MI.
