VANDERWOUDE - Holly VanderWoude, of Lowell MI, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer. Holly's optimism and strength, in the face of great adversity, taught us all the real meaning of faith and trust. Her infectious laugh and sense of humor lifted the spirits of those around her, even during her most difficult times. She will be dearly missed by her parents, Jim and Sharon VanderWoude; as well as her sister, Heather; and grandmother, Mae VanderWoude. Additionally, to Holly's extended family of cherished aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, who gave her constant support and encouragement, we will forever be grateful for the love and prayers you expressed for Holly. Holly was greeted in Heaven by her grandparents, Jim and Margaret Hoffmier as well as grandpa, George VanderWoude. Family and friends can meet with the family from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 16. A celebration of Holly's life will follow at 1:00 p.m. followed by graveside internment immediately following the service. The memorial service will be held at the Corey Funeral Home, 415 N. Main St., Evart, MI, with Pastor Douglas Bennett, Chaplain for Heartland Hospice officiating. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to Gilda's Club, God's Kitchen or Mel Trotter Ministries in Grand Rapids in Holly's name.
