Helena Witte

WITTE - Mrs. Helena Rose Witte, age 90, of Grand Rapids, formerly of Newaygo, died Friday, February 18, 2011 in Grand Rapids. She was born Helena Rose Fix in Sparta, Michigan, the daughter of Anna (Thomas) and William Fix on April 15, 1920. She married Bernard Gerard Witte on February 20, 1943 in Comstock Park and he preceded her in death on June 16, 2002. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church. She is survived by her children, Pat and Frank Klackle of Belding, Ray and Ginny Witte of Grant, Joan and Mike Weiler of Belmont, Rich and Bonnie Witte of Newaygo, Ben and Diane Witte of New Hartford, CT, Brian and Carole Witte of Auburn, Jerry and Annette Witte of Mt. Pleasant, Ron and Maria Witte of Jenison; her son-in-law, Bill Maher of Coleman; 28 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; her brother, John and Elsie Fix of Comstock Park; her sisters, Ann Soules of Belmont and Mary Bergman of Sparta. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Marijean Maher; and her husband, Bernard G. Witte. The Funeral Liturgy was held at 11:00 a.m. from the St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, Newaygo on Monday, February 21, 2011 with Father Pete Schafer officiating. Interment in St. Bartholomew Cemetery.
