Heather Louise (Varner) Sprague passed away on March 24, 2026, leaving behind a family who loved her deeply and will carry her memory forward always.

Born on December 28, 1952, to Martha (Wiedner) and Orrie Varner. Heather devoted her life to her family and to being a steady, caring presence for those she loved. On July 6, 1974, she married Richard Sprague, beginning a partnership that spanned more than five decades and was the foundation of a close and loving family.

Heather was a devoted mother to her two children, Erica (Sprague) Hakala, married to Drew Hakala, and Ryan Sprague, married to Andrea Sprague. She took great pride in her role as a grandmother and found immense joy in her seven grandchildren: Jacob Hakala, married to Juliette Hakala; Sarah Hakala; Morgan Sprague; Nicholas Hakala; Benjamin Sprague; Brooklynn Sprague; and Katelyn Sprague.

Heather was proud of her time working at the Cleveland Clinic and later at Richland Elementary. She enjoyed golfing, spending time in Fort Myers Beach, Florida, playing games, baking, and, above all, time with her grandchildren. Some of her happiest moments were spent watching them grow, celebrating their milestones, and simply being together. Those who knew Heather will remember her for her quiet strength in dealing with her various illnesses, her love for her family, and the care she showed through both words and actions. Her presence brought comfort and stability, and her legacy lives on through the family she cherished so deeply.

The family is planning a small celebration of Heather's life for family and close friends. They are grateful for the kindness, love, and support shown during this difficult time.
