Harry Maring died Wednesday morning, June 15, 2022, and went to be with his Lord. He was born November 4, 1930, in Winsum, Gronigan, The Netherlands, son of Klaas and Jantje (Bats) Maring. Growing up in the Netherlands during WWII, Harry knew hardship and wartime conditions. After the war ended, Harry married Eike and immigrated with his three brothers and mother to the United States at the age of 24. He worked as a foreman for Precast Construction company and was a devoted husband and father. Harry and Eike were married for 67 years. Harry was a member of the Grace Christian Reformed Church and a lifelong supporter of Kalamazoo Christian Schools. He enjoyed attending his children's sporting events and reading a good book. Harry loved to tell stories and meet new people. He also loved to travel to see family in Canada, Europe, and Africa. He raised canaries and homing pigeons. Upon retirement, his hobbies were making Dutch pastries and visiting with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Harry was a lifelong follower of Jesus Christ, and his favorite verse was Psalm 31:14,15. Harry was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings, Marten, John, Joe and Grietje. On May 5, 1955, Harry married the former Eike Banninga who survives. Also surviving are their children, Clarence J. (Elizabeth) Maring, Edward L. (Linda) Maring, and Shirley A. Pruitt; grandchildren, Tom Maring, Daniel (Alexandra) Maring, Steven (Katherine) Maring, Nathan (Victoria) Maring, Renee Maring, Caroline Pruitt, and Jake Pruit; and great-grandchildren, Elijah Maring, Lenore Maring, and Genevieve Maring. Visitation will be from 10am to 12pm on Monday June 20, 2022, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 3926 S. 9th St, Kalamazoo MI 49009 where services will begin at 12pm. Private graveside services will be held in Maple Grove Cemetery in Comstock. In lieu of flowers please consider a gift to the Kalamazoo Christian School Association.
