Harriet Oliver: of Beulah and Traverse City, affectionately known as Hat, completed her vibrant journey on this day, Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at the age of 89, just two months shy of her 90th birthday. She was born in Richland, MI on July 19, 1934, to Dale and Bertha (Downey) Humphrey the youngest of four children. She grew up in Wildwood on Gull Lake and spent many hours on Gull Lake. She married Jacque Pell, and they had a daughter Jacqueline. Jacque passed unexpectedly in 1958. In 1960, Hat married Clark Oliver and they welcomed three more children, Tammy, Kelley and Bruce. They spent many days camping and hunting in the Pigeon River State Forest and fishing on Lake Michigan. Hat and Clark also spent time in Canada, flying into remote lakes where they would spend the week fishing. In 1972, Hat took first place in Canada and the "Field and Stream" fishing contest with an 8-pound, 5-ounce Brook Trout. She loved to fish. Her last great fishing experience was fishing for halibut in Alaska in 2019. Hat was preceded in death by both her husbands; her parents; her brother Robert Humphrey; and her sisters Jean Miller and Gladys Foss. Hat is survived by her children, Jackie Eddy, Tammy Tapper, Kelley Oliver and Bruce Oliver; grandchildren Marina, Haley, Brendan, Emily, Alexis and Victoria. Cremation has taken place. There will be no services per Hat's request. Burial will be at Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Vanderbilt, MI.
