Kitsmiller, Harold "Cap" 10/9/1925 - 6/10/2022 Kalamazoo, MI It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Harold "Cap" Kitsmiller, of Kalamazoo on June 10th, 2022, at the age of 96 years young. Cap will be dearly missed by his family that survives him, daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Scott Field, son-in-law Calvin Olinger, grandchildren Blair and Emily Field, Calvin Olinger and Kate Gibson, Nick and Vanessa Olinger, and great-grandchildren Dane and Ava Field, Kaiya Olinger, and Bryce Olinger. Several nieces, a nephew, and many, many dear friends. Cap was preceded in death by his loving wife Donna, darling son Ricky, and dearest daughter Sue, who was his partner in crime. Cap was born on October 9th, 1925, in Otsego MI to Howard and Gladys (Halstead) Kitsmiller and grow up with three sisters, Louella, Phyllis, and Joyce. He graduated from Otsego High School in 1943 and enlisted in the Navy serving in World War II aboard the USS Baxter APA-94 Amphibious Personnel Assault Transport in the Asiatic Pacific area. He married Donna Marie Allworth in 1948. Cap was an avid outdoorsman and loved fishing, hunting, gardening, bird watching and simply enjoying nature of all kinds. His heart was as big as all outdoors, which he dearly loved. Cap genuinely was one of a kind. Never was there a kinder, more gentle man than he. He was truly the last of the good guys and his kindness and compassion for others never waived. He lived his life loving and respecting his family, nature, his country, God, and anyone who crossed his path in life. While those of us he leaves behind will forever miss him and mourn his loss, heaven rejoices as they gain a loving man, and he rejoins members of his family that have passed before him. Thank you for your service, for being the best Dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, and friend anyone could have. You will be forever missed but we know some day we will see you on the other side. Love you forever. Memorial services will be held Saturday, July 30th, at 11:30am at Friendship Wesleyan Church 1285 102nd Ave, Plainwell MI 49080. Interment of ashes will follow at Riverside Cemetery. A celebration of Cap's wonderful life will follow at his residence. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers please consider a gift to Centrica Care Navigators. Arrangements entrusted to Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 622 S. Burdick St, Kalamazoo MI 49007.
