On Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at age 81, Gloria June Langeland left this world and entered into the glory of the presence of God. A life-long follower of Jesus Christ, Gloria is now more alive than ever before. Gloria was born in Kalamazoo on September 4, 1937 to the late John M. Rottier and Lyda Eleanor "Elinor" (Poelstra) Rottier and was a life-long resident of Kalamazoo. On July 14, 1958 she was joined in marriage to Robert Jay Langeland who preceded her in death on April 1, 2001. She is survived by her two sons, Fred (Brenda) Langeland of Plainwell and Tom (Jane) Langeland of Ypsilanti; five grandchildren, Caitlin (Brandon) Brewer and Jason, Spencer, Isaac and Robert Langeland; two great-grandchildren Ryan and Hayleigh Brewer; her sister Joyce Ruster; her sister-in-law Donna Thomas and several nieces and nephews. She was a graduate of Kalamazoo Christian High School and Davenport College. She was a long-time member of Lexington Green Christian Reformed Church where she played the piano for many years. For eight years she served as secretary at South Christian Grade School and in later years volunteered at Kalamazoo Loaves and Fishes. Like her father before her, she loved photography and enjoyed traveling, first with Bob and then, after his passing, as a "frequent flyer" on America By Rail tours. She also deeply loved her grandchildren, contributing many hours to their care when they were young. A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 29th at Kalamazoo Community Church, 2435 N. 26th Street. The family will receive guests one hour prior to the service and again with a luncheon at the church following the service. Private graveside services will be held in Riverside Cemetery following the luncheon. Memorials may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan. Services entrusted to Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 622 S. Burdick St., Kalamazoo, MI 49007. To view Gloria's personalized guest book, please visit www.langelands.com.
