Gloria J. Bartelt

Age 82, passed away on October 3, 2023, at Centrica Rose Arbor Place with family by her side. She was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on December 24, 1940, the daughter of the late Arthur and Lenore (Lynch) Horn. Gloria was kind, generous and loving. She had a vibrant personality, and her uplifting spirit made her a joy to know. On November 2, 1963, she married the love of her life Elwood 'Woody" Bartelt, they enjoyed 54 years of marriage. Together in 1976, they started Bartelt Aviation and in 1982, Bartelt Travel Consultants. Gloria was an integral part of the business and helped both achieve great success. She also cherished the time she was able to work side by side with Woody, her son (John) and daughter in-law (Kelly). She loved social events, dining with friends, was always up on current affairs and fashion. She was a member of the Young Ladies Bridge Club, a group of friends who had met for more than 50 years. Gloria had a giving heart and enjoyed doing charity work whenever it was needed. Above all, Gloria loved her family, and she was extremely proud of her son, daughter in-law, and grandchildren. Her smile, laughter and gentle words of encouragement will be missed by all who loved her. She is survived by a loving son, John (Kelly) Bartelt; three grandchildren, Samantha, Cassidy and Jack; sister, Antoinette "Toni" (John) D'Alessio; in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in passing by her parents; husband Woody; siblings, Everett Lieske, Norman Lieske, Audrey Sajdak, Shirley Priest and Arlene Priest. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A funeral service to honor Gloria's life will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, beginning at 11:00 a.m. She will be laid to rest privately at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Centrica Care Navigators Hospice or Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Michigan, c/o the funeral home.
