(Drenth) Prieskorn, Getrude M. Grand Haven, Michigan Gertrude M. (Drenth) Prieskorn, age 86 of Grand Haven formerly of Kalamazoo, died on January 23, 2023. She was born during one of the greatest snowstorms on February 6, 1936, in Alamo, Michigan, the daughter of Cornelius and Grace (DeBoer) Timmerman. Gertrude graduated from Otsego High School. She enjoyed taking business classes and loved learning shorthand. As an executive assistant, she lent her skills to several positions including those at Paul Todd, W. Soule & Company, and Kalamazoo Gospel Mission. She was an avid painter using watercolors and acrylics. She surrounded herself with color and beauty, including her lovely gardens around her home. Living close to the beach in South Haven, Gertrude would often walk to the water to watch the sunsets. She would say, "I like to be near, on, or in the water." Gertrude was devoted to her family and supported them with her love in every way. In March of 2003, Gertrude married Louis Prieskorn, who survives. She is also survived by her children: Doug (Tamara Lee) Drenth, Howard (Teressa) Drenth, and Joni Drenth; her stepchildren: Linda VanWyck, Scott (Linda) Dubois, David (Angela) Prieskorn, and Daniel (Paige) Prieskorn; her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her sister Shirley Boelman; her brother Glenn Timmerman; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband John Drenth, her parents, and her brothers Warren and Eldon Timmerman. Friends may visit with her family on Friday, January 27th, 2022, from 10:00-11:00 AM, at Centerpointe Church, 2345 10th Street North, Kalamazoo, MI 49009.
