George W. Posthumus, age 93 of Mattawan, died on December 3, 2021. He was born on June 28, 1928, in Kalamazoo, the son of Sam and Anna (Schuring) Posthumus. He served proudly in the U.S. Army. George married Joan Long on December 30, 1976. Alongside his brother, George owned and operated Bedding Plants by Posthumus. His family includes his wife, Joan Posthumus; his stepchildren: Stephen Obenour and Linda Dzurny; his step-grandchildren: Kimberly and Kara; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers: Henry, Thomas, Claus, and Robert Posthumus. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, from 1:00-3:00 PM at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Burial & Cremation Services, 3926 S. 9th Street, Kalamazoo, 49009. A private burial will be held at South Portage Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of George may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
