Frederick Lewis

Frederick James Lewis, age 82, of Scotts, MI passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2017 in Rose Arbor Hospice Residence. He was born on April 4, 1935 in Grand Rapids, MI a son of Watson C. and Frances (Seif) Lewis. Fred served in the US Army Reserves frm May of 1957 to April of 1963. He worked in many areas of retail including Sears, Century Buick, Continental Linen Service and Bond Supply. Throughout his life he enjoyed participating in various bowling and softball leagues and he enjoyed fishing, especially on the opening day of bass season. He was a member of Pathfinder Church, American Legion Post 207 and the 32d Division Veteran Association. Fred also enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels for Senior Services. Fred was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings, Bill Lewis, Nancy Sprigzs, Jim Lewis and Bernard Moerdyke. He is survived by his loving and caring family, Judy Beckwith, Tom & Teresa Gipson, Karen & Jay Wilcox, Cheryl & Todd Edland, Doug & Sue Boss, Jeff & Kathie VanOrsdol, Dave & Sue Gremban and Jack & Janice Lewis; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his loving companion, K.C. the dog. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 19th from 5-8PM at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. Services will be held on Thursday at 11AM at the funeral home with Pastor John Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Boughton Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Pathfinder Church.
