Passed away at his home on July 16, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 23, 1940, in Decatur, MI, the son of the late Harold and Mildred (Parish) Ewert. He remained a lifelong resident of Southwest Michigan. He was an accomplished carpenter who worked hard to provide for his family. He believed in the "American Way," enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and was always willing to help those in need. He had a strong resilience which helped him through the loss of his son Frederick Ewert Jr. who passed away in 1975 at the age of 15. Fred loved his family and friends and leaves them with many wonderful memories of a life well lived. On September 27, 1958, he married his High School sweetheart, Louise E. (Slover) Ewert. They enjoyed 51 years of marriage before her passing in 2009. Fred is survived by his son Gary (Mary) Ewert, of Palatine, IL and sister Carol A Antles of Gobles, MI. In accordance with his wish cremation will take place and he will be laid to rest at Lakeside Cemetery in Decatur with his wife and son Frederick Jr. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, c/o the funeral home.
