Obituary
Eugene Francis Chapman, of Portage, Michigan, passed away on June 1, 2024, at the age of 98. He was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on May 22, 1926 to William and Frances (Pikkaart) Chapman. On May 27, 1950 Gene married Helen M. Durian. The two were married for 74 years.
Gene served in the United States Navy during World War II in the South Pacific. He was President and co-owner of Indusco Supply Co. until his retirement.
Gene enjoyed both Bowling and Golf. In 1948 he rolled the fifth perfect 300 game in Kalamazoo history. Later, in 1988, he was inducted into The Kalamazoo Men's Bowling Association Hall of Fame. In Golf, Gene had 9 holes in one. He really enjoyed playing Golf!
Gene is survived by his wife, Helen; his son, Todd E. Chapman; granddaughters, Lauren B. (Ted) Bienemann, and Shannon L. Chapman; and great-grandchildren, Theo Bienemann and Claudia Bienemann; also, nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Audrey Potgiesser (John), brother, Bill Chapman (Avis), nephews, Bill Chapman (Carol), and Rodney Potgiesser (Marilyn).
