Brown, Esther M. Kalamazoo Esther M. Brown went home to be with the Lord on February 12, 2023 at Rose Arbor Hospice with her husband and daughter by her side. She was born October 29, 1948 in Muskegon, MI, the daughter of Sidney and Edith Groeneveld. She was a graduate of Muskegon Heights High School, where she met her husband, Roger L. Brown. They were married on October 30, 1969. She received her business degree from Davenport University and retired from MSU KCMS as a Medical Transcriptionist. She enjoyed her retirement days by spending time with her family, playing card games, reading, watching TV and a lot of baseball. Many afternoons and weekends were spent at the ball fields watching her grandsons and granddaughter play baseball or supporting her husband umpiring at Little League Tournaments. She was a devout Christian and enjoyed her worship and fellowship with those at Calvary Bible Church in Kalamazoo. She is survived by her family: Roger Brown, her husband of 53 years; her daughter, Kimberly Griffin; her grandchildren: Liliana, Korbin and Gavin (Kaitlin) Griffin; and her brother, Jack (Sharon) Groeneveld. She was preceded in death by her parents and Joyce (Ken) Sherburn, her sister. The family will greet family and friends Monday, February 20, 2023 from 4-7:00 PM at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 3926 S 9th St, Kalamazoo, MI 49009. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Calvary Bible Church, 855 S Drake Rd, Kalamazoo, MI 49009, where a light lunch will follow the service. Private interment will be in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, Attn: Kalamazoo Go Red for Women, 3940 Peninsular Dr SE, Suite 180, Grand Rapids, MI 49546.
