It is with great sadness that the family of Eric (Rick) John Moerman, announce his passing. He is lovingly survived by daughter, Emily (Bryson) Guyer, son, Eric Moerman; brother, Terry (Kathy) Moerman, sister-in-law Sharon Moerman; and grandsons Breckon, Braydon and Bryn Guyer. Along with many Nephews, Nieces and extended Family members. He is preceded in death by his parents Elsye and Ivan Moerman and brothers Randy and Wayne.
Born into a loving Christian home on August 28, 1954, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Rick was raised with three rambunctious, competitive brothers that set the bar high for his love of sports. Together the four of them held a strong life long companionship and brotherly love.
Rick attended Kalamazoo Central High School, class of '72. He took great pride in his basketball and football achievements. The bonds formed with teammates and friends were lifelong ones he cherished. Rick continued to carry his sports triumphs at a collegiate level while attending Central Michigan University and further on to Arizona State.
After overcoming past obstacles, Rick spent his later years focusing on redemption, kindness and giving back to his community. He worked as a carpenter, a profession that reflected his skill, craftsmanship, and strong work ethic. He was of great service to many. From fixing scooters to spigots, he was quick to offer his help to those who needed it.
Rick lived a life defined by sports, he was a die hard fan of all the Michigan teams. "Grandpa Rick" was also a passionate and an enthusiastic supporter of his Grandsons. He found great joy in following all their sporting events and attending their games. He especially enjoyed supporting the teams his daughter coached, his highlight was making sure the refs were doing their job correctly.
At 71 years old, Rick entered into eternal rest on April 6, 2026, of natural causes in Denver, Colorado. He drove the lane hard throughout his life and made the winning basket for so many. He will be greatly missed, but Heaven welcome's its new star.
