Autry-Garrett, Elsie Janice 7/1/1945 - 6/5/2022 Portage, MI Elsie Janice (Ford) Autry-Garrett of Portage, MI passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2022, at the age of 76. She was born in Kalamazoo, MI on July 1, 1945, the daughter of Farrell and Irene (Brinks) Ford. She worked many years at the Battle Creek Federal Center, before retiring. Following retirement she volunteered her time serving many different fields later in life, including many opportunities in the medical field. After meeting her husband: Gene Autry the two of them moved to Idaho where they resided until he passed away in 2007. Following his passing she moved to San Antonio, TX for a time before coming back to Portage, MI for the remainder of her life. She enjoyed the great outdoors, fishing, and camping. She liked spending time with the many friends she made at Zion Lutheran Church (especially the sewing group), and Crossroads Village in the Portage/Kalamazoo. She loved all of her numerous family and friends very much, and she will be deeply missed by those that knew her She is preceded in her passing by her husband: Lloyd "Gene" Autry and parents: Farrell "Rex" and Irene Ford. Left to cherish her loving memory are her children: Jeffery (Dottie) Garrett, Andrew (Patricia) Garrett, Mary Waskelis, and Kathy Autry; and grandchildren: Nick Garrett, Alex Sobrino, David Diller, Robert Diller, Adam Waskelis, and Jordan Waskelis. In accordance with Elsie wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial service is still in the process of being planned for a later date.
