Maria passed away on December 24, 2019, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic in 1961. Elfi was loved by her family and friends, was an accomplished pianist, and a fabulous singer. Elfi is survived by Carl Leighton and her family in the Dominican Republic. A memorial service will be held on January 4, 2020 at the Oshtemo Community Center where a light lunch will be served at 1:00 pm. The memorial service will follow at 2:00 pm. Donations may be made to the Crescendo Academy of Music or the Kalamazoo Humane Society.
