Elaine Schwartz

SCHWARTZ - Elaine H. Schwartz, 87 years young, passed away peacefully at Blodgett Hospital Monday, September 21, 2009 with Sam her loving husband of 64 years at her side. Born in Richland Center, Wisconsin on January 31, 1922 to Hugo and Iva Hinrichs, she graduated after two years at both Community and Military colleges. Elaine served as a link training instructor in the Marine Division in 1944/45 at Page Field, Paris Island. Marine Sgt. Sam saw her there for the first time on November 4th, 1944 and they eloped and married three months later. For a wedding present the Marines shipped Sam to the Pacific for the duration of the War. Thereafter Elaine lived a life full of love for Sam, every animal who shared this world with her, her faith, friends and relatives. Heaven has truly inherited one of life's angels. She will be sorely missed, remembered and her life celebrated by all of us left behind. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 26th, 2009 at Immanuel Reformed Church, 1300 East Beltline with Rev. Brian Smilde officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial and lunch will follow. Sam requests donations in lieu of flowers to Mel Trotter Ministries, Grand Rapids. Zaagman Memorial Chapel
