Liggett, Elaine J. Kalamazoo, Michigan Elaine Joyce Liggett, born July 7, 1927, the fifth child of Gysbert and Gertrude Koopsen, died peacefully at home with her children attending on May 14, 2022. She was married on May 1, 1948, to Jerry H. Campbell, who preceded her in death. She was then married to Robert E. Liggett in November of 1974, who also preceded her in death. She is survived by her children: Sherry (Mike) Reigle, Jerry Campbell, Jr., and Debbie (Patrick) Carlin; her grandchildren: Arthur (Travis Kohl) Reigle, Matthew (Traci Haywood) Reigle, Jay Reigle, Michael Campbell, Joel Carlin, Elaine (Brendo) Roberts, and Nicole (Jordan) Darnell; her great-grandchildren: Makenna Campbell, Bella Reigle, Elijah Reigle, Layne Reigle, Evee Darnell, and Carlin Darnell; her daughter by marriage, Nancy Liggett; two sisters: Norma Jean Erickson and Gertrude "Trudie" (Erwin) Herzog; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her two husbands; her parents; brothers: Adrian and Nelson Koopsen and three sisters: Geraldine "Micky" Jackson, Arlene Brinks, and Cornelia Crouch. Elaine was a lifelong member of Calvary Reformed Church and a proud retiree of The Upjohn Company. She was a woman of faith, family, and friendship. Her special lifelong friends included Carolyn Abrams and Grace Bond, friends she made while working at the Sutherland Paper Company in the early days of marriage. Friends may visit with her family on Friday, May 20, 2022, from 6:00-8:00 PM, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Burial & Cremation Services, 3926 S. 9th Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49009. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at 12:00 PM, at the funeral home with Pastor Jonathan Lam and Pastor Greg VanHeukelum officiating. A graveside service will follow at Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kalamazoo Gospel Mission, Loaves & Fishes, or Calvary Reformed Church.
